Does running AC cause dry air, a sore throat, or breathing problems?

AC genuinely does reduce humidity somewhat as part of how cooling works, and very low temperature settings can make a room feel noticeably drier — which for some people contributes to a dry throat or skin, especially overnight. That's a real, mechanical effect of how AC works, not the same as it causing breathing problems. If you have ongoing respiratory symptoms, that's worth discussing with a doctor rather than something we can diagnose here.
📐 Calculated estimate Based on real BEE-certified data — see the exact numbers below.

A moderate temperature setting (24°C or so, rather than pushing toward 18°C) noticeably reduces this drying effect while still cooling the room comfortably. If dryness is a recurring issue for you specifically, a small humidifier running alongside the AC is a common, straightforward fix — that's a comfort adjustment, not a sign the AC itself is unsafe to use.
